Hi, and welcome to the Beyond The Trail website. I'm
Paul Terry, an MTA qualified and experienced mountain leader based in North Wales and I am passionate about getting people into the mountains. If you're looking for a mountain adventure in N Wales,
hoping to gain confidence in mountain walking, scrambling or navigation, then please get in touch and let's make it happen.
Mountain Walking and Scrambling
The mountains of North Wales are unique; wild & dramatic and home to the highest peaks in Wales, all within reach of
nearby roads and parking. The mountains are well-laid with accessible paths for visitors. If you are new to mountain walking, I will lead you on mountain days which will match your experience and
ability.
If you are looking for something more adventurous, I can take you safely beyond the
busier paths on routes which you might not have the confidence to walk or scramble without a guide. This will open up a new experience of these mountains, taking you into enchanting cwms, along
thrilling ridges and onto awesome summits. As an MTA qualified Summer Mountain Leader, I can lead you on some amazing, low-grade scrambling routes like Tryfan North Ridge. If you would like to
experience higher graded routes, I will gladly introduce you to some excellent local guides.
Mountain Navigation
Navigtion is a truly valuable skill to learn. My course will take you from your current level to a higher level of confidence and skill
which will open up the mountains to you even more. We start by learning to read the terrain around us before understanding how this translates onto a map. By the end of the course, you will be able
to confidently know where you are on the map and how to plot and travel along your chosen route. It is intense but incredibly satsifying!
